New on DVD and Blu-ray

"Ride Along 2"
Are you ready for another ride with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube? In "Ride Along 2," the comedy duo return as partners (and brothers-in-law-to-be) to tackle a new crime in Miami. The movie comes out on Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand on Tuesday, April 26. The DVD and Blu-ray both include deleted scenes, a gag reel, feature commentary, and several featurettes; the Blu-ray also includes five other special features.

Watch this funny exclusive behind-the-scenes clip illustrating the real-life odd couple dynamic between Kevin Hart and Ice Cube:

"Jane Got a Gun"
This film has a rather labored history to the big screen, but you can see the results for yourself on DVD/Blu-ray April 26. Natalie Portman plays the lead role of Jane Hammond, who built a life on the Western plains with her husband Bill Hammond (Noah Emmerich) and young daughter. When her husband shows up full of bullets after a run-in with John Bishop (Ewan McGregor) and his gang, Jane knows they won't stop until her family is dad. So she turns to a man from her past (Joel Edgerton) for help.

"Son of Saul"
This Hungarian drama, set in the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II, won
the 2016 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. The Blu-ray release has several special features, including commentary with director Laszlo Nemes, actor Geza Rohrig, and cinematographer Matyas Erdely; a deleted scene; an hour of interviews; and trailers.

New on Netflix

"Special Correspondents"
On May 1, Netflix will release a whole heap of new titles, but there's still plenty to keep an eye on in the last week of April. This Netflix original comedy from Ricky Gervais, premiering April 29, follows a struggling radio journalist (Eric Bana) and his hapless technician (Gervais), who fake frontline reports on a war in Ecuador from the safety of their NYC hideout. It's a remake of the 2009 French comedy, and co-stars Vera Farmiga, Kelly Macdonald, Kevin Pollak, Benjamin Bratt, America Ferrera, and Raúl Castillo.

The world's greatest superspy is back! This new animated series from Netflix brings back all the characters, catchphrases, and comedy that made the 1980s TV series a favorite. Here's the synopsis for the new show, which arrives Friday, April 29: "With the world once more teetering on the edge of disaster, the small but heroic secret agent is back to thrill a whole new generation of fans as he attempts to overthrow a host of villainous rivals with the help of hapless hamster Penfold and a collection of state-of-the-art gadgetry and vehicles."

"Team Foxcatcher"
You may have seen the 2014 drama "Foxcatcher" -- starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo -- based on the real-life tragic story of multi-millionaire John du Pont and two champion wrestlers. Now watch the Netflix original documentary "Team Foxcatcher," featuring exclusive footage to reveal the inner workings of the Foxcatcher wrestling facility and founder du Pont's descent from philanthropist to murderer. TV Worth Watching

"The Good Wife" (Sunday on CBS at 9 p.m.)
This is it. The end of an era. After seven seasons of heartbreak (she'll always love you, Will!), headaches, incredibly sharp writing, and powerful performances from Julianna Margulies down to the many amazing guest stars, Alicia Florrick's story is coming to an end on May 8. The series finale, appropriately titled "End," was written by showrunners Robert and Michelle King, and directed by Robert King. Margulies told Entertainment Weekly the finale will be "satisfying, uplifting and sad." The showrunners have NOT shot down that Josh Charles return rumor, so here's hoping for some kind of flashback/vision/cameo/thing. Also, here's hoping for more of this, from Alicia and Jason:

"Project Runway: All Stars" (Thursday on Lifetime at 9 p.m.)
Who will win the incredibly melodramatic fifth season of "Project Runway: All Stars"? Will it be former winner Dom or one of this season's drama divas, Kini and Ken? In the 1.5-hour finale, "New York State of Mind," the final designers ascend to the top of the new World Trade Center to create collections inspired by New York City. Debra Messing is the finale guest judge. All four previous "All Stars" winners have been male, and two of those four have been past winners. So will Dom continue the two-time winner streak of Seth Aaron and Dmitry, or will Ken/Kini make it a five-member All Stars boy band?

"Criminal Minds" (Wednesday on CBS at 9 p.m.)
The 22 episodes of Season 11 end May 4 with a finale called "The Storm." Here's the synopsis: "Hotch is arrested by a SWAT team and suspected of conspiracy; when the team members scramble to prove Hotch's innocence, they discover a larger plot may be on the horizon."

"Frontline" (Tuesday on PBS at 10 p.m.)
Let's get series for a minute. On May 3, "Frontline" is premiering two short documentaries filmed in the heart of major conflict zones: In "Benghazi in Crisis," journalist Feras Kilani goes inside the war-torn Libyan city of Benghazi and reveals firsthand how chaotic the situation there has become, as ISIS, other Islamist militants, warring militias, and the Libyan army all fight for control. After that, in "Yemen Under Siege," journalist Safa Al Ahmad makes a dangerous return to Yemen and captures the chaos on camera. The episode will stream in full, for free, online at pbs.org/frontline.

New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital Only

"The Witch"
This unsettling horror film won the 2015 Sundance Film Festival Directing Award (for writer/director Robert Eggers) and currently has a 90 percent fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics. It comes out on Digital HD on May 3, before the DVD/Blu-ray release on May 17. A New England family, circa 1630, is banished to the edge of the wilderness, and believe evil is at work when one of their five children goes missing. When the DVD and Blu-ray do come out, they'll feature audio commentary, a Salem Panel Q&A, and the featurette "The Witch: A Primal Folklore."

"Zoolander 2"
Tell Todd to get your damn latte and prepare to re-lax and watch the "Zoolander" sequel in its fashionably early Digital HD release on May 3. There's also a really, really ridiculously good-looking "Magnum Edition" combo pack with a bunch of special features, for when the discs arrive on May 24.

"Crossing Point"
A young American couple's Baja vacation turns into a nightmare when Olivia is kidnapped by a drug dealer and her boyfriend Michael is told to smuggle a backpack filled with cocaine across the border into the U.S. in the next 12 hours or Olivia will be killed. The action film -- written by Paul Dominic and Shawn Lock, and starring Shawn Lock, Jacob Vargas, Rudy Youngblood, Paulina Gaitan, Tom Sizemore, Luke Goss -- arrives on VOD and iTunes on May 3.

New on Netflix

"Marseille" (Netflix Original)
Gérard Depardieu, Benoît Magimel, and Géraldine Pailhas star in this eight-episode French drama following the longtime mayor of Marseille, who enters into a ruthless war of succession with his former protege. It sounds like a French "House of Cards," and you can watch it stream on Netflix May 5.

Here's the trailer:

"Grace and Frankie" Season 2 (Netflix Original)
Jane Fonda (Grace) and Lily Tomlin (Frankie) return in Season 2 of this Netflix original comedy. The legendary stars play longtime rivals who unexpectedly ended up on the same side when their husbands fell in love and got married. Catch up on Season 1 before Season 2 starts streaming on May 6.

Here's the Season 2 trailer:

Now a 20th anniversary edition of "Independence Day" is coming out May 3 on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital, ahead of the June 24 theatrical release of "Independence Day: Resurgence" (which, just FYI, does not star Will Smith). The 20th anniversary editions include the newly restored theatrical version, and the Blu-ray and Digital releases include more special features. Also, there's an "Attacker Edition" available, including a limited edition alien ship replica, a collectible booklet, newly restored extended and original cuts of the movie, and an all-new 30 minute documentary "Independence Day: A Legacy Surging Forward."

"The 5th Wave"
If you just can't get enough of the world blowing up, this post-apocalyptic attack movie starring Chloë Grace Moretz is out on DVD/Blu-ray on May 3. The release includes filmmaker and cast commentary, making-of featurettes, and a sneak peek excerpt from "The Last Star," the finale to Rick Yancey's bestselling series. Blu-ray and digital exclusives include deleted scenes, a gag reel, and three more featurettes.

"East Side Sushi"
Diana Elizabeth Torres stars in this charming underdog story about a Latina single mom determined to become a sushi chef despite being the "wrong" race and gender. The film was a festival favorite and currently has a 100 percent fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes; you can check it out on DVD and Digital on May 3. DVD bonus material includes the making-of featurette "Behind the Sushi," plus a "Behind the Music" featurette on the score, and two deleted scenes.

Check out the trailer:

"Joy"
Jennifer Lawrence earned her fourth Oscar nomination (she has one win under her belt) for her role in this biopic, and you can find out why when the David O. Russell film arrives on DVD/Blu-ray on May 3.

This romantic drama -- starring Benjamin Walker and Teresa Palmer, and adapted from the Nicholas Sparks novel -- arrives on DVD/Blu-ray May 3. The home release includes commentary with director Ross Katz and actor Benjamin Walker; four behind-the-scenes featurettes; and deleted scenes.

The top R-rated movie around the world is out on DVD and Blu-ray May 10. We could list the Blu-ray features, but it's much more fun to get them from the Merc with a Mouth himself:

The Bennett sisters and Mr. Darcy unite to fight a zombie (walker?) outbreak in 19th century England in this film adaptation of the best-selling novel that was itself based on Jane Austen's classic. Lily James leads a stellar cast, including "Game of Thrones" Lannisters Charles Dance and Lena Headey, plus Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote, Douglas Booth, and Matt Smith. TV Worth Watching

"Quantico" (Sunday on ABC at 10 p.m.)
This is a huge week for season finales, including "Damien," "Grandfathered," "New Girl," "The Grinder," "Underground, "The Big Bang Theory," "Scandal," "2 Broke Girls," "The Vampire Diaries," "Hawaii Five-O," and "Quantico." Very few freshman series have success like Priyanka Chopra's "Quantico," and even though it has slipped in the ratings over the course of Season 1, it is still keeping fans talking, and guessing. The finale, Episode 22 is called "Yes," with this official synopsis from ABC: "It's graduation day for the NATS of Quantico, while, in the future, Alex (Chopra) and her team find themselves head-to-head with the terrorist."

"The Last Man on Earth" (Sunday on FOX at 9:30 p.m.)
Thank Tandy this show is coming back for a third season, 'cause it is just not in front of our half-shaven faces nearly enough. Season 2 of Will Forte's crazy not-so-solo ride through a fairly pleasant apocalypse ends with "30 Years of Science Down the Tubes." According to FOX, in the May 15 finale, "Phil and Mike grow closer than ever and the whole Malibu group gets a big friggin' surprise." Don't kill off Mike, please! Or really anyone!

"The Amazing Race" (Friday on CBS at 8 p.m.)
Season 28, which was cast with Internet stars (please don't do that again, CBS), comes to a close May 13 with the title "The Only First That Matters." Who will win this, Tyler & Korey, Dana & Matt, or Sheri & Cole? (Probably Tyler & Korey but it would be great for underdogs Sheri & Cole to pull out a surprise victory.)

"Inside Amy Schumer" (Thursday on Comedy Central at 10 p.m.)
Not everything this week is about finales. Amy Schumer's fourth season just started April 21, and so far it's as sharp as ever. The May 12 episode is called "Sociopath" and here's what to expect: "Amy plays the saxophone; attempting to buy a shirt; getting elected President of the United States."

On May 16, "Castle" is saying goodbye not just to Stana Katic's Detective Kate Beckett and Tamala Jones's Lanie Parish, who were already announced as leaving, but to the entire show, after eight seasons. Even though several stars (including Nathan Fillion, aka Richard Castle) were reportedly finalizing Season 9 contracts, ABC decided to cancel "Castle" after all. So this is it.

"Fear the Walking Dead" (Sunday on AMC at 9 p.m.)
FTWD is starting to get pretty good in its second season, but the slow slide in the ratings suggests it may be too little, too late for some fans. But you should consider catching up on DVR/On Demand before this Sunday's midseason finale. Season 2 of AMC's "Walking Dead" companion series has a total of 15 episodes this year, but they are doing the hiatus thing by splitting up the season. Episode 7, titled "Shiva," airs May 22 with this synopsis from AMC: "The family faces their biggest test yet; Nick, Madison, Travis and others try to stay close to each other."

"Survivor" (Wednesday on CBS at 8 p.m.)
Who will win the under-hyped Season 32, "Survivor: Kaho Rong": Aubry, Michele, Cydney, Tai, or Mark the Chicken? Find out in the big finale, plus reunion special, when they air May 18. #TeamMark or #TeamAubry

TV Worth Watching

"The Bachelorette" (Monday on ABC at 9 p.m.)
"Worth watching" is always a stretch when it comes to Bachelor Nation; "watching ironically" is closer to the truth. This year, lucky JoJo Fletcher gets to date an erectile dysfunction specialist, a guy dressed as Santa, a guy who rides in on a unicorn, and Aaron Rodgers's brother. Take that, Caila! The two-hour "Bachelorette" Season 12 premiere promises to be the wonderful trainwreck we've come to expect, and it will air right after the big "Dancing With the Stars" Season 22 finale, where "America's Next Top Model" winner Nyle DiMarco will most likely pick up another reality TV show title.

"Nashville" (Wednesday on ABC at 10 p.m.)
This is it. After four seasons, Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) will hang up their mics on May 25. The Season 4 finale, appropriately titled "Maybe You'll Appreciate Me Someday," was directed by series creator Callie Khouri and has this synopsis from ABC: "Rayna resorts to drastic measures when she learns that Maddie has crossed paths with a duplicitous figure from her past. Juliette must choose how to publicly reckon with the truth of Jeff Fordham's death - a decision that directly affects Layla. Scarlett and Gunnar consider parting ways as bandmates, and Will finally decides to do what he should have done long ago - step up as the leader of a cause and a community."

"Arrow" (Wednesday on The CW at 8 p.m.)
Heads up: Season 4 closes with Episode 23, "Schism," which airs May 25 with this official synopsis from The CW: "Oliver (Stephen Amell) teams up with a surprising force in an attempt to stop Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and his magic once and for all." Charlotte Ross (Donna Smoak) told TVLine the finale will be "intense, painful, shocking and scary," adding, "It's very open-ended for many characters — to such a degree that you will have no idea how Season 5 will resume, and which characters may be returning or which characters will be gone for good." Not another cliffhanger!

"Wayward Pines" (Wednesday on FOX at 9 p.m.)
Season 2 of this psychological thriller from executive producer M. Night Shyamalan and author Blake Crouch, premieres May 25 with "Enemy Lines": "As the residents of Wayward Pines struggle against the rule of the First Generation, a new resident emerges from suspended animation to help preserve the endangered human race." Jason Patric, Djimon Hounsou, and Hope Davis star, with Terrence Howard and Carla Gugino in guest appearances.

TV Worth Watching

"Wrecked" (Tuesday on TBS at 10 p.m.)
Yep, this is supposed to remind you of "Lost." Co-creators Justin and Jordan Shipley said the iconic series was the "touchstone" for "Wrecked," a comedy offering a new perspective on the whole plane-crashes-on-an-island thing. "On 'Lost,' there were, like, 40 people who survived on the island, but you really only followed the 10 most attractive and most equipped [to get by]," Justin told TVLine, "But what about the other 30? Most flights are filled with people who have no [survival] skills whatsoever — how do they grapple with this larger-than-life scenario? And then we unpacked it from there." Plus, in this version, there is no Smoke Monster and no Others. The first episode airs June 14 with the cheeky title "All Is Not Lost." Here's the synopsis: "A British ex-special forces agent leads a rescue mission after a commercial flight crashes on an uninhabited island; the survivors make a discovery that could change everything."

"Aquarius" (Thursday on NBC at 9 p.m.)
If you want more David Duchovny after getting the "X-Files" event series on disc, check him out as a 1960s L.A. officer investigating cult leader Charles Manson. Season 2 starts June 16 with a two-hour (commercial free) premiere combining three episodes: "I'm So Tired," "Happiness Is a Warm Gun," and Why Don't We Do It in the Road." Here's the general synopsis: Hodiak tackles a new case involving missing young women. Also: Charmaine takes on a risky undercover operation; and Manson and his growing family move into the home of their new benefactor."

Check out the promo:

"Animal Kingdom" (Tuesday on TNT at 9 p.m.)
TNT's new drama, based on the Australian film of the same name, follows a 17-year-old boy who moves in with his wild relatives in a surf community after the death of his mother. Ellen Barkin plays the lead role of Janine "Smurf" Cody, the character Jacki Weaver played her way to a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination in the 2010 movie. Here's the pilot synopsis: "An upcoming heist is planned and Joshua 'J' Cody (Finn Cole) discovers the intense nature of his estranged grandmother."

"Another Period" (Wednesday on Comedy Central at 10 p.m.)
"Keeping Up With the Kardashians" meets "Downton Abbey" in this hilarious (and shameless) comedy starring Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome, with backup from Michael Ian Black, Jason Ritter, Christina Hendricks, Paget Brewster, David Wain, and more. The Season 2 premiere, airing June 15, is called "Tubman" with this Comedy Central synopsis: "Lillian and Beatrice meet Harriet Tubman, who gives them advice on how to become famous; Peepers hires a new servant; Chair gives birth to baby Kermit."

TV Worth Watching

"Game of Thrones" (Sunday on HBO at 9 p.m.)
Can you believe we're already at the end of Season 6? Seven hells. Ten episodes is not enough, and the next two seasons are reportedly even shorter. At any rate, HBO will follow Episode 9's epic "Battle of the Bastards" with a finale called "The Winds of Winter," written by showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss and directed by Miguel Sapochnik. The Sunday, June 26 title is also the title of the upcoming sixth book in author George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. The Episode 10 synopsis teases, "Cersei faces her trial," but there will surely be more than that. Much more. And yet never enough.

"Queen of the South" (Tuesday on USA at 10 p.m.)
Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga) goes from living in a barrio in Mexico to starting her own drug empire, becoming one of the wealthiest women in the world, in this drama adapted from the popular telenovela "La Reina del Sur." Season 1 will feature 13 episodes, starting June 23.

"Pretty Little Liars" (Tuesday on Freeform at 8 p.m.)
PLL is back for 20 more episodes in Season 7 -- 10 to air this summer, and 10 in the winter of 2017. The Season 7 premiere, "Tick-Tock, Bitches," was written by showrunner I. Marlene King, and premieres after an all-day PLL marathon from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 21. Here's the first ep synopsis: "After Hanna's shocking abduction by 'Uber A,' the PLLs and company desperately race against the clock to save one of their own. The only way to do this is by handing over evidence of Charlotte's real murderer to 'Uber A.' In order to do so, the girls must decide what blatant lines they are willing to cross that they have never breached before; and once they cross that line, there is no turning back."

"Big Brother" (Wednesday on CBS at 8 p.m.)
The most horribly addictive show of the summer returns for Season 18 on June 22. So far, 12 houseguests have been revealed -- including Paulie, brother of BB16's Cody Calafiore, and Tiffany, sister of BB17's Vanessa Rousso -- but we're expecting four returnees (Nicole, Frank, James, Da'Vonne) to be announced as well. The Battle of the Block is dead (thank heaven!) however a new competition will take its place to keep the stakes high in the Sunday shows. You can get to know the newbies in the CBS cast bios, but we're staying loyal to Nicole.

"BattleBots" (Thursday on ABC at 8 p.m.)
The bots are back! ABC's second season of the competition series starts June 23 with "Robots Activate: Qualifying Round Begins." Prepare yourself for "next generation robots — bigger, faster and stronger than ever before. New on Netflix

This week marks the start of a new month, and you know what that means -- a ton of new titles are being added to Netflix as of July 1, and plenty of titles are going out the door. Some of the new additions include all three "Back to the Future" movies and the four "Lethal Weapon" movies. There are also some cool original series arriving this week...

"Marcella" Season 1 (Netflix Original)
Anna Friel stars in this British crime series that started airing in the U.K. in April and arrives on Netflix July 1. Friel's former detective Marcella Backland is devastated when her husband leaves her and their two children. She ends up returning to the murder squad after 12 years away, but the serial killer she once investigated may be back, too. The series co-stars a who's who of British TV, including "Downton Abbey" alum Laura Carmichael and "Game of Thrones" alum Harry Lloyd.

"Marco Polo" Season 2 (Netflix Original)
Power has a price. The 10 episodes of "Marco Polo" Season 2 arrive on Netflix July 1. Check out the trailer below to see the escalating battle for the Mongol empire.

"A Very Secret Service" Season 1 (Netflix Original)
You don't have to wait for July to start streaming a new series. Here's the synopsis for this French series, available June 30: "At the height of the Cold War in 1960, André Merlaux joins the French Secret Service and contends with enemies both foreign and bureaucratic."

TV Worth Watching

"The Great British Baking Show" (Friday on PBS at 9 p.m.)

The most magically delicious competition show -- always sweet, never bitter -- returns July 1! This season already aired last year in the U.K. (as Series 6), but it's just Season 3 to the PBS audience. In Friday's premiere, 12 amateur bakers attempt to make Madeira cake, frosted walnut cake, and black forest gateau. Also, we're guessing, judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood will offer some frosty glares of disapproval, and hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins will present some quality "walnut" innuendo.

"Zoo" (Tuesday on CBS at 9 p.m.)
Here's what you can expect from the special two-hour premiere of "Zoo" Season 2, which includes episodes titled "The Day of the Beast" and "Caraquet": Following the dramatic shift in violent animal behavior, the team attempts to rescue Jamie and the leopard whose DNA may hold the key to curing the animal crisis. Also, the team discovers a shocking mutation that threatens the life of one of their own."

"Frontline: Policing the Police" (Tuesday on PBS at 10 p.m.)
This new documentary takes viewers inside the police department in Newark, N.J., which Frontline describes as "a poor city plagued by violent crime, where the victims and perpetrators are usually black, and the police force itself is largely black and Latino." The special examines the challenges of trying to change how officers operate in this community after decades of mutual mistrust. You can check out the intriguing doc on PBS June 28 or online at pbs.org/frontline/film/policing-the-police.

TV Worth Watching

"Sharknado: The 4th Awakens" (Sunday on Syfy at 8 p.m.)
OK, this looks awful, but "Sharknado" flicks always do; it doesn't matter, though, 'cause the must-watch element comes from the reactions on Twitter. They are priceless. This time, Syfy allowed the audience to vote online to decide whether Tara Reid's character, April Wexler, should live or die. (#AprilLives or #AprilDies) Get the results July 31, when Ian Ziering returns as Fin, alongside Stacey Dash, Vince Neil, and ... Chippendales dancers. Here's the official synopsis: "The fourth installment of the 'Sharknado' franchise picks up with Fin and his family living in relative bliss five years after the devastation that occurred on the East Coast. But all that's about to change, when the sharknado menace returns in totally unexpected places and ways."

"Preacher" (Sunday on AMC at 9 p.m.)
The Season 1 finale is already here. Episode 10, "Call and Response," follows Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) as he hopes to "follow through on his promise to obtain answers from heaven; the entire town waits with bated breath." After this episode, AMC is airing another "Talking Preacher" post-show to analyze the finale (like they did for the premiere). And then fans will have to wait with bated breath for Season 2, which has already been renewed with 13 episodes in 2017.

"Boston EMS" (Saturday on ABC at 10 p.m.)
This unscripted medical documentary returns to follow Beantown's first responders. The men and women of the Boston emergency medical services stay calm when dealing with disasters and mayhem, although you may freak out a bit when watching them in action when Season 2 starts June 30.

"Teen Choice 2016" (Sunday on FOX at 8 p.m.)
John Cena and Victoria Justice co-host this year's surfboard awards show, honoring the best in the biz, according to teen voters. Check out the full list of 2016 nominees.

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's new on Netflix and TV, we've got you covered.

New on DVD and Blu-ray

"Batman: The Killing Joke"
From "Batman v Superman" and "Suicide Squad" to "The Killing Joke," this is a big year for the Caped Crusader and the Clown Prince of Crime. This animated adaptation of the infamous 1988 graphic novel -- following Batgirl/Barbara Gordon (Tara Strong) and Batman/Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy), and sharing a version of the Joker's (Mark Hamill) origin story -- just premiered at Comic-Con, and had a brief theatrical release before its digital debut July 26. It's out on DVD and Blu-ray August 2, so you can see if the buzz and controversy were warranted.

"The Lobster"
There's a good chance you'll be hearing more about this film at the 2017 Oscars. The critically acclaimed drama offers an edgy, absurdist perspective on relationships and conformity, and it arrives on DVD and Blu-ray August 2. Colin Farrell stars as Davis, who has just been dumped by his wife in a world where single people have 45 days to find true love, or else they are turned into the animal of their choice and released into the woods. (!) He ends up escaping to join a rebel faction called The Loners, where he meets a woman (Rachel Weisz) who stirs up unexpected feelings. The Blu-ray and DVD include the behind-the-scenes featurette "The Fabric of Attraction: Concocting The Lobster."

"Meet the Blacks"
This comedy send-up of the horror film "The Purge" arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital, and On Demand August 2. Carl Black (Mike Epps) moves his family to Beverly Hills for a better life, but their arrival coincides with the annual purge, where crime is legal for 12 hours. Bonus features include "The Making of Meet the Blacks," the "Hit the Gas" music video, behind the scenes of "Hit the Gas," a "Don't Hate Wiring!" parody commercial, and outtakes.

Check out this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip with the cast discussing working with Mike Tyson, who co-stars in the movie:

"The Trust"
Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood play Las Vegas cops who stumble on the location of a hidden vault belonging to local drug dealers. Things don't go according to plan from there in this twisty crime thriller, which is out on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD on August 2. Bonus features include the featurettes "The Dynamics of a Duo: Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood" and "The Visuals of Vegas," plus audio commentary with directors Alex and Benjamin Brewer.

"Louder Than Bombs"
Jesse Eisenberg, Gabriel Byrne, Devin Druid, Amy Ryan, David Strathairn, and Isabelle Huppert star in this drama arriving on DVD August 2. Here's the synopsis: "Three years after the death of his war photographer wife, a man keeps everyday life going with his shy teenage son. A planned exhibition of his wife's photographs prompts his older son to return to the house he grew up in - and for the first time in a while, the father and the two brothers are living under the same roof." Extras include director's commentary by Joachim Trier, and a behind-the-scenes making-of featurette.

New Video on Demand, Rental Streaming, and Digital

"The Huntsman: Winter's War"
Heck with summer, "Winter's War" is arriving on Digital HD August 2, before the Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand releases August 23. The home release will include an all-new extended edition, plus bonus features. Charlize Theron (evil Queen Ravenna) and Chris Hemsworth (Huntsman Eric) reprise their roles from "Snow White and the Huntsman" in this prequel/sequel to the 2012 film, which also stars Emily Blunt as Ravenna's sister Freya and Jessica Chastain as Eric's fellow warrior and love, Sara.

"Game of Thrones" Season 6
The most recent season of HBO's dragon drama will be available for download on Digital HD (iTunes, Vudu, Amazon Video, Google Play, Flixter, etc.) starting Monday, August 1. Bonus features include "Bran's Journey," "The Dothraki World," "Inside Game of Thrones: Prosthetics," and "The Game Revealed."

Check out this portion of "Bran's Journey," with the cast and crew talking about THAT sequence from "The Door":

"Sun Choke"
In this psychological thriller -- available on VOD and iTunes August 2, before its limited theatrical release August 5 -- Sarah Hagan plays a woman recovering from a violent psychotic break. She's subjected to a bizarre daily holistic health regimen, enforced by her lifelong caretaker, but when she develops an obsession with a stranger, her demons begin to surface. The early reviews for this one are pretty encouraging, if you don't mind narrative ambiguity.

"High-Rise"
Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, and Elisabeth Moss star in this adaptation of J.G. Ballard's classic 1975 novel about a high-rise building where wealthy individuals occupy the top floors with the best amenities, and the people stuck on the lower floors suffer blackouts and other service disruptions, leading to class warfare and revolts. The film is out on Digital HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 2. Bonus features include audio commentary from Tom Hiddleston, director Ben Wheatley, and producer Jeremy Thomas; an in-depth look at adapting the novel from the page to the screen; a look at the '70s set design, special effects, and more.

Check out the film's trailer, which features Tom Hiddleston nearly naked on a balcony:

"In the Deep"
Remember: It is NEVER safe to go back in the water. In this thriller, out on Digital/DVD/On Demand August 2, two sisters (Mandy Moore and Claire Holt) get trapped at the bottom of the ocean during a diving expedition, and battle injuries, lack of oxygen, and great white sharks in their fight to reach safety. This film was previously titled "47 Meters Down" before going with "In the Deep," which -- fun fact -- was the original title of Blake Lively's "The Shallows."

"Agatha Raisin & the Quiche of Death" (Acorn TV)
"Catastrophe" star Ashley Jensen plays London PR exec Agatha Raisin in this quintessentially British village mystery based on the bestselling books by M.C. Beaton. In the feature-length pilot movie, Agatha fulfills a lifelong dream of retiring to a small village. Desperate to fit in, she enters the local quiche-baking competition, only to find herself a suspect when her entry kills the judge. Oops! To save her reputation, Agatha sets out to solve the murder. The pilot premieres August 1 at Acorn.tv, and Series 1 premieres August 8.

New on Netflix

This week starts a new month, and you know what that means -- a ton of new titles are arriving as of August 1, and a bunch more are leaving. Here are some of the exclusives arriving this week.

"The Little Prince"
This is the first animated feature film adaptation of the beloved story, and it's debuting in the U.S. on Netflix this Friday, August 5. It premiered in May 2015 at the Cannes Film Festival and it was supposed to have a theatrical release in the U.S., but instead it's here. C'est la vie. The all-star vocal cast includes Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Bud Cort, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro, James Franco, Ricky Gervais, Paul Giamatti, Riley Osborne, Albert Brooks, and Mackenzie Foy. Here's the synopsis from Netflix: "A little girl lives in a very grown-up world with her mother, who tries to prepare her for it. Her neighbor, the Aviator, introduces the girl to an extraordinary world where anything is possible, the world of the Little Prince."

And here's the main trailer:

"Funny or Die Presents: Donald Trump's The Art of the Deal: The Movie"
You may be familiar with this "Funny or Die" spoof, starring Johnny Depp as Donald Trump, since it made a big splash when it appeared out of nowhere back in February. It's now available for streaming on Netflix, starting August 1. Depp and a dozen other major celebs star in this "lost film" based on Trump's own 1987 advice book. The "TV movie" starts with an intro from Ron Howard, and includes appearances from Alfred Molina, Robert Morse, Patton Oswalt, Jack McBrayer, Michaela Watkins, Henry Winkler, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Lloyd, Kristen Schaal, Andy Richter, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Tymberlee Hill, Alf, Jordan Coleman, Joe Nuñez, and Jeremy Konner.

"David Cross: Making America Great Again"
Speaking of funny and Donald Trump, David Cross (always Tobias Fünke) appears to combine both in his original stand-up comedy special, which takes aim at the current political landscape in a set filmed live at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas. Catch it on Netflix August 5.

TV Worth Watching

"The Bachelorette" (Monday on ABC at 8 p.m.)
It's time for JoJo to choose between Robby Hayes and Aaron Rodgers's estranged brother, Jordan. Even though she probably made her decision a long time before the Season 12 finale (read the spoilers and see if they pan out), ABC still has to stretch this puppy out to make it seem "shocking" and dramatic. Then we have the "After the Final Rose" special where JoJo and her Chosen One can update fans on how they've felt about the tabloid coverage and whatnot.

"Bachelor in Paradise" (Tuesday on ABC at 8 p.m.)
You're not off the hook yet! The Bachelor Nation train stays in motion with the return of "Bachelor in Paradise," collecting rejects from the past few seasons, putting them in a tropical location together, and seeing what happens. "Meet the Donors: Does Money Talk" (Monday on HBO at 9 p.m.)

Alvey rescues an old friend from a bad spot."

Critics gave this one a thumbs-up and you can check it out at www.shudder.com.

New on DVD and Blu-ray

The movie is out on DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD August 9, and bonus features include three featurettes: "The Making of A Hologram For The King," "From Novel to Screen: The Adaptation of A Hologram For The King," and "Perfecting The Culture."

Check out this exclusive clip with the filmmakers talking about how they needed to cast Tom Hanks, and stay for the end for a funny outtake from Hanks himself:

New on Netflix

"The Get Down" Part 1 (Netflix Original)
Baz Luhrmann ("Moulin Rouge") and a team of collaborators put together this music-driven drama set in New York in 1977, following the rise of hip-hop and the last days of disco, as told through the lives of South Bronx kids who would change the world. Check it out starting August 12.

That leads both a killer (Oscar winner Javier Bardem) and the local sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) to try and track Moss down.

TV Worth Watching

"unREAL" (Monday on Lifetime at 10 p.m.)
"Money. Dick. Power." Rachel and Quinn showed off those matching tattoos in the Season 2 premiere, but the rest of the season has shown them battling each other. Now, as we prepare for the August 8 season finale, "Friendly Fire," the female "Breaking Bad" team/reality show producers appear to be back on the same side -- the side that's protecting themselves and "Everlasting" from Coleman and Yael's exposé attempt. This has been a dark, controversial season -- covering race, gender, rape, mental illness, you name it -- and it remains to be seen if we'll end the 10-episode run on Rachel and Quinn's side or rooting for their takedown.

"The Great British Baking Show" (Friday on PBS at 9 p.m.)
The most positive, uplifting meringue of a reality show sadly ends its current season this Friday, August 12. PBS viewers had been spoiled with back-to-back episodes, but the downside of that is that the season passed rather quickly. Since "Baking Show" is just the U.K.'s "The Great British Bake Off" with a slightly different name, the spoilers are already out on who won this season -- which we're calling Season 3, even though it's "Series 6" for the U.K. and it aired for them this time last year. Season/Series 7 hasn't started airing in the U.K. yet because of the BBC's coverage of the summer Olympics, but it should be airing after that, and then we'll get to see it in the U.S. ... eventually.

"Hitchcock/Truffaut" (Monday on HBO at 9 p.m.)
In 1962, French New Wave auteur François Truffaut spent a week in Hollywood with his idol, Alfred Hitchcock, resulting in a revered book of interviews covering Hitch's entire career. This documentary combines rare original audio recordings and behind-the-scenes-photos from the historic exchange, offering an illuminating look of Hitch's legacy. The doc, narrated by Bob Balaban, also includes new observations from filmmakers Wes Anderson, Olivier Assayas, Peter Bogdanovich, David Fincher, Richard Linklater, Martin Scorsese and Paul Schrader.

Here's more background: "Hired as the first African-American at Disney in 1956, Floyd worked on such classics as 'Sleeping Beauty' and '101 Dalmations,' to name a few. In 1967, he was hand-picked by Walt Disney to join the story team on 'The Jungle Book.' He would later work at Hanna Barbera on many classic cartoons, including 'Scooby Doo.' His talents would later take him to Pixar to work on 'Toy Story 2' and 'Monsters, Inc.' But on Mr. Norman's 65th birthday in 2000, Disney HR force-retired him. He struggled with Disney's decision and refused to leave his 'home.'" Get the full story in theaters, On Demand, and on Digital HD August 26.

Here's the story: "The movie picks up when Patrick, who has been living in Denver for nearly a year, returns to San Francisco for the first time to celebrate the wedding of old friends. In the process, he must face the unresolved relationships he left behind and make difficult choices about what's truly important to him as he finds himself still drawn to former flame Richie (Raúl Castillo), while being vexed by memories of his crash-and-burn relationship with his former boss Kevin (Russell Tovey)." The release comes with the extras "Farewell to Looking" and "Looking: The Movie Cast Featurette."

Season 7 premieres October 23, but these bonus features should give you enough to chew on for the next two months.

"Roots"
The powerful 2016 re-imagining of "Roots" -- based on the Alex Haley novel, and inspired by the breakthrough 1977 miniseries -- arrives on Blu-ray/DVD August 23. The four-part miniseries stars Malachi Kirby, Regé-Jean Page, Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne, Tip "T.I. Harris, Mekhi Phifer, Anna Paquin, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Matthew Goode. The Blu-ray and DVD both feature the documentary ""Roots: A History Revealed."

Here's an exclusive sneak peek of that documentary bonus feature:

"The Huntsman: Winter's War"
Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain, and Emily Blunt star in this story set before "Snow White and the Huntsman." It's available on DVD, Blu-ray, and On Demand August 23, and bonus features include a gag reel, deleted scenes, feature commentary, a making-of featurette, and a special all-new extended edition of the adventure.

"Castle" Season 8
The final season of "Castle" arrives on disc August 23. Say goodbye to Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) all over again by binge-watching all 22 episodes. Bonus feature include bloopers, deleted scenes, "Cool Boys" audio commentary with Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin; "Heartbreaker" audio commentary with Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever, and writer Barry O'Brien; and "The Great Escape," where "the cast of 'Castle' are put to the test in an escape room to see if they have honed their detective skills after all these years on 'Castle.' Pennywise isn't the only clown to fear. This horror film from producer Eil Roth and director Jon Watts ("Spider-Man: Homecoming") tells the story of a loving father who wears a clown costume and makeup to perform at his son's 6th birthday -- only to discover that the outfit won't come off, and it also changes his personality in a terrible way. TV Worth Watching

"The Night Of" (Sunday on HBO at 9 p.m.)
HBO's fantastic, addictive crime drama ends its eight-episode season on August 28. That is a crime on its own. So many mediocre shows go on for 20-something episodes a year and we only get eight from Riz Ahmed and John Turturro. At least the season finale, "The Call of the Wild," is supersized at 1 hour, 45 minutes. According to the synopsis, "John Stone (Turturro) finds himself in the spotlight thanks to a controversy enveloping Nasir "Naz" Khan's (Ahmed) defense team." Hopefully we also get the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, about what really happened that night. And no matter what happened then, what's next for Naz? He will never be the same.

"MTV Video Music Awards" (Sunday on MTV at 9 p.m.)
Who run the world? Queen Bey, of course. She is leading the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards pack with 11 nominations, followed by Adele with eight nods. Find out who'll win the most VMAs and, more importantly, who will do something crazy and launch Monday's watercooler discussion, when the show airs live from New York's Madison Square Garden on August 28. Check out the nominees and vote here.

"The Strain" (Sunday on FX at 10 p.m.)
The third season of FX's horror drama begins August 28. Ten episodes are ahead, and the premiere, called "New York Strong," has this synopsis: "The strigoi are evolving, becoming faster. Smarter. Eph (Corey Stoll) struggles to improve his failing bioweapon while trying to work through the emotional fallout of the abduction of his son, Zack (Max Charles). As Setrakian (David Bradley) and Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones) attempt to crack the Lumen's deepest-held secrets, Fet (Kevin Durand) helps a Navy SEAL team in a deadly mission: search for the Master through the underground tunnels of New York."

"RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race" (Thursday on Logo at 8 p.m.)
Yas, queens, the second season of the "RuPaul's Drag Race" spinoff premieres Thursday, August 25. This season has 10 returning contestants from Season 2-Season 7, competing to be inducted into the "Drag Race Hall of Fame." This season's new twist has the two best performing queens "Lip-sync for their Legacy," with the lip-sync winner choosing which queen gets eliminated.
